Gede Ruins

Gede ruins is a 12th century swahili village  that was mysteriosly abandoned some 600 years ago due due to unknown causes.  It is now a national museum and the ruins are heavily overgrown with beautiful indigeneous forests, Baobababs and Tamarind.

Here you can experience the  drums and dances of the Giriama tribe. The front man of the group swings his legs high in the air , kicks up the sand and keeps everyone amused. The ladies have a routine of  wriggling their hips without end and follows quite simple steps while drummers drum a tantalizing African beat.
